Once on your ship, the first quest will pop up. Once the creation process is completer you will be dropped onto your spaceship, which will be themed around the race you picked, and you will be able begin your journey in Starbound. Once your character is created, they can't be changed, however you can have multiple characters saved at once, allowing you to experience all the races in the game. A great example of this comes from the plant people, who have weapons and armor themed entirely around plant life. Once in the game, even greater visual changes will be noticed as each race has armor and weapons designed specifically for them. You are given multiple options and although at first the differences may seem only cosmetic, there are in fact differences between the different races.
The first step on your journey is creating your character.
